What we collect, why, who sees it, and how to say no.

Last updated: October 2026

1.The short version

DriveWise Journal (“the Journal,” “we”) publishes car insurance guides and offers a free referral service. When you request quotes, we collect the details you give us and, with your consent, pass them to independent insurance partners. This notice explains that in full. It applies to drivewisejournal.blog.

2.What we collect

  • From the quote form: name, phone number, email, postal address and ZIP, vehicle and driver information, current insurance status, and your consent records (including time, IP address and the wording shown).
  • From your browser: IP address, device and browser type, pages read, referrer, and approximate location.
  • From other sources: verification, analytics and advertising providers may supply information that helps us confirm requests and understand readership.

3.How we use it

To publish and improve the Journal; to process and route quote requests; to verify that a request is genuine and prevent fraud; to measure advertising and readership; to communicate with you about your request or a question you send; and to comply with law.

4.Who receives it

If you submit the form, we share your details with insurers, licensed agents, lead networks and marketing partners so they can contact you about auto insurance. See our Partner Classifieds for companies that may be involved; the list changes over time. Those companies handle your data under their own privacy notices. We also use vendors for hosting, analytics, communications and fraud prevention, who may only use data to serve us. We may disclose information to comply with law or protect rights, or if the Journal is sold or reorganised. Sharing for marketing may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under certain state privacy laws; see Section 7.

5.Consent to calls, texts and email (TCPA)

When you tick the consent box on the quote form, you give your express written consent for us and our partners to contact you at the number and email you provided, using calls, text messages and email, including autodialled or prerecorded/artificial-voice messages, to discuss auto insurance. You are not required to consent in order to buy anything. Standard message and data rates may apply and frequency varies. To withdraw, reply STOP to any text, tell the caller, use the unsubscribe link in an email, or write to the address in Section 12. Calls may be recorded.

6.Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar tools for essential site functions, to remember settings, to measure readership and to measure advertising performance. You can adjust your browser to refuse cookies, though parts of the site may not work as expected. Where required, we honour Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing.

7.Retention and security

We keep data for as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal, tax and dispute-resolution reasons, then delete or de-identify it. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8.Your rights (CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know and access the personal information we hold; to correct or delete it; to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising; to limit use of sensitive personal information; to receive a portable copy; and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise a right, email us at the address in Section 12. We may verify your identity first, and you may use an authorised agent. If we deny a request, you may be able to appeal.

9.Opting out of marketing

Ask any partner who contacts you to stop. You can also write to us and we will add your details to our suppression list and notify partners where we can. Opting out of marketing does not stop service-related messages about a request you made.

10.Children

The Journal is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and we delete it if we learn we have.

11.Links to other sites

Articles and partner pages may link elsewhere. Those sites have their own practices and we are not responsible for them.

12.Changes to this notice

We may revise this notice; the date at the top shows when it was last updated. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
